Things To Remember
  • Don’t be angry at yourself when anxiety/depression flares up. It isn’t your fault and no one blames you and if they do they’re pieces of shit.
  • Don’t orbit around your perceived value so much. You’re not the sum total of what you produce.
  • Don’t let yourself wonder why people love you. That’s not how it works. There are not stark, individual reasons that a person can enumerate about why they love you. It’s the entire, unique combination of what and who you are.

Malena Valcarcel is a Spanish artist based on the Mediterranean Coast, working for years in the paper field, using it to create Book Sculptures, Paper Jewellery and elaborated constructions.

I live in Alicante - Spain, next to the beautiful and warm Mediterranean Sea. I was born in Tenerife – Canary Islands where I grew up without losing sight of the sea.
I actually have no formal training in anything to do with paper or my paper art established work, I have learnt everything myself.
I have tried many areas creatively over the years and now I find myself working with paper which I adore.

Worth a visit her website and Behance

Am Not Sad, I Am Not Sick is now available as a PDF for digital download.

"I Am Not Sad, I Am Not Sick: An Autobio Zine" debuted at Twin Cities Zinefest 2013. It is a 15-page black-and-white zine based on mental and emotional struggles of the author.

Here it is on tumblr. It’s $3 (or pay-what-you-want on Gumroad!). I’ve cleaned it up quite a bit and added grey tones to give the drawings a bit more depth. It’s a very personal piece and I hope you’ll consider picking it up.

This zine does include references to self-harm and suicidal ideation.

Thanks for supporting me!

some people need to understand this shit
